Welcome to Term 4 2024 – All About Still Life
In this 8-week course, students will develop and further understand the creative process and progress their art technique in a fun and supportive environment.
Students will learn about Still Life and how selected artists produced their artworks and how contemporary artists produce their works today.
This term we start with collage & mixed media based on the works of the French artist Paul Cezanne. We then step into printmaking taking in the works of the Japanese woodblock artists and Australian artist, Cressida Campbell.
Then it’s drawing in coloured pencils with a look at Baroque art and Danish Folk Art. We then look at observational drawing and watercolours to create beautiful leaves inspired by our very own tutor and award winning artist, Rachel Bolton.
We round out the term with an Australian contemporary focus looking at Jonathan Dalton and his hyper realism where will use acrylic painting with a focus on blending, tone and form. The final week looks at the interesting compositions of artist Jude Rae. Here we will use oils on canvas. Then its onto our mini masterpieces for the last two weeks.
The first 6 weeks are spent learning various techniques while in the last few weeks, you develop your own Still Life inspired mini Body of Work masterpiece based on the choice of techniques we looked at and developed over the course of the term!
All Students are provided with;
- A Visual Arts Diary for their workings and drawing excercises throughout the Term
- An Apron in class for their Art activities
- A mini Fine Art Lesson each week relevant to a particular artist or style for the Term
- All Art Materials required for each weeks diverse activity
- Their own piece of Art, created in class each week, to take home!
- All the materials required to complete a Masterpiece of their choice at the end of Term
- A light snack of fruit & biscuits
- 8 Weeks of Creativity and Fun in a nurturing environment!
Classes are pro rata through the term so you can join in at anytime throughout the Term!
